RYA First Aid Instructor
The RYA First Aid Instructor course aims to equip new instructors with the skills and knowledge to enable them to teach the RYA First Aid Course at RYA Centres in the UK and Overseas.
During the course, you will be required to demonstrate that you are capable of teaching the RYA First Aid Course. This will include the delivery of 2 sessions, engaging with feedback for other sessions, answering knowledge questions and demonstrating CPR.
Pre Requisites
First Aid at Work, meeting the requirements of the UK Health and Safety Regulations and issued by a UK Awarding Organisation or voluntary accreditation scheme (including voluntary aid organisations and trade bodies), or;
STCW Medical First Aid at Sea issued or updated in the last 5 years, or;
A licence to practice in the UK as a Doctor, Nurse or Paramedic.
If you are outside the UK and cannot access the certificates listed above, other equivalent qualifications may be considered on a case-by-case basis.RYA Marine Radio SRC certificate or higher GMDSS radio operator's certificate
Evidence of competence in recreational boating demonstrated by RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or an RYA Instructor certificate in a practical discipline
Recommended: RYA Sea Survival Certificate and certificated training in the use of an AED
Recommend RYA First Aid Certificate, or have observed a course being delivered in the last 5 years
An appreciation of the restrictions to first aid in the marine environment
Recent, relevant boating experience
Awareness of current first aid practices shown in the latest edition of the RYA First Aid book.
