5 courses + 2 own boat training options
All RYA Powerboat training courses are available:
including the Advanced Certificate of Competence Exam.
On all of our courses, there will be an experienced instructor in the boat with you at all times. The training can be undertaken at our centre in Rhu on our boat, Maverick, or on your own boat. You can enter the RYA training scheme at any level, provided you have the correct experience.

This course is largely practical, on board the powerboat. There are some short theory sections to complete. The course provides everything you need to become confident at boat handling.
The aim of this course is to build on your basic powerboating knowledge & experience. You will be taught powerboating up to the standard required to complete a short coastal passage by day.
The aim of this course is to teach handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation up to the standards required to drive a planing powerboat safely by day and night in familiar tidal waters.
This intensive package program runs from Monday to Friday, encompassing RYA Powerboat 2, Sea Survival, First Aid, VHF & PPR training - everything you need for your commercial endorsement.
The RYA/MCA Advanced Powerboat exam is a practical test of skippering ability by day and night in the type of craft applicable to the National Powerboat Scheme.

Own Boat RYA Training
The RYA powerboat courses can be run on your own boat. The RYA student/instructor ratio (power 3:1) need to be adhered to and the boat have to be suitable for the training and come with a minimum level of safety equipment.

Bespoke Own Boat Training
Instruction can be arranged at a time that is mutually convenient for you and an instructor, for a minimum of one day. Please click HERE to view basic safety equipment you must have.

Cost: £300 per day (+ mileage & accommodation if required, if away from Rhu Marina)
Other Info: You will be responsible for all the instructor's meals throughout the training. All running costs of the boat are the responsibility of the owner.
